1-6 Power Play Overs: Delhi Capitals openers started slowly in the first power play in which they just made 36 runs with a run rate of 6 runs per over. In the first six overs they didn't lose a single wicket which was the plan of Delhi Capitals.

7-15 Middle Overs: After the slow power play Dhawan and Shaw decided to increase the run rate when CSK spinners came to attack. In the 4 overs, Dhawan and Shaw attacked the spinners and made 52 runs And DC score reached 88 runs without a loss. Prithvi Shaw completed his half-century in the 10th over.  In the 11 th overs, Dhawan tried to play an innovative reverse sweep shot but failed and found himself in front of stumps and got out in the form of LBW. After that great start, Rishabh Pant gets promoted to No.3 for batting and he didn't disappoint the team management. In the 13th over Prithvi Shaw stepped out and tried to play a big shot but got an inside edge and dhoni behind the stumps as always does the rest of the work. Prithvi Shaw scored a well made 64 runs from the 43 balls. Shreyas Iyer Came to bat at no.4. At the end of 15th over Delhi Capitals score was 124 runs with the loss of 2 wickets.

16-20 Death Overs: Josh Hazlewood and Sam Curran had to ball two overs and 1 over had to be balled by Deepak Chahar. In the last 5 overs pitch has slowed down a little bit and the ball was not coming on the bat that nicely. But still, Delhi Capitals managed to get 51 runs in the last 5 overs and DC score reached 175 runs in 20 overs.

CHENNAI SUPER KINGS inning:

1-6 Power Play Overs: While Chasing a big score like 175 runs Chennai Super kings started poorly and made only 34 runs in first 6 overs with the loss of big wickets of Shane Watson and Murli Vijay.

7-15 middle Overs: This was the phase when CSK completely messed up the things and slipped away from the run chase. In the Overs of 6-10 when CSK needed to attack the bowlers and score some quick runs, they went too defensively and pressure got building on them. In the 10th over Kedar Jadhav came to bat after the run out of Ruturaj Gaikwad. After the 10 overs, CSK scored only 47 runs and lost 3 wickets. CSK required 13 runs per overs after the 10 overs. Faf and Jadhav played some shots after that but did not score runs at a rate which they required. At the end of 15 overs, they only managed to get 95 runs and after that recovery was not possible and Delhi Capitals was completely dominating the game with Rabada having 2 overs in the bank to bowl in the last 5 overs.

16-20 Death Overs: The miraculous inning was needed for CSK to win as they required 81 runs in just 30 balls with two overs of Kagiso Rabada to face. In the16 the over Kedar Jadhav got out on the bowling of Anrich Nortje and dhoni came to bat. But after that only formalities remained as the required run rate was unreachable. In the full 20 overs, CSK just managed to get 131 runs and lose the match by 44 runs.

DC: 175/3 (20 overs)

Prithwi 64(43)

CSK: 131/7 (20 overs)

Faf du Plessis 43(35)

Key points of the match

Opening Partnership of 94 runs which set the platform for the Delhi Capitals.

CSK batsmen's defensive approach in the first 7-8 overs which just didn't allow them to come back in the game. Sending Ruturaj Gaikwad before the Kedar Jadhav and Ms dhoni when required run rate was over 10 overs per over was not a good move by CSK.

Shreyas Iyer's brilliant captaincy move of giving Overs to Axar Patel when Shane Watson was at the crease as Axar had already gotten him out 5 times in 7 innings. And also to complete the spinners overs before the 13 overs.

MAN OF THE MATCH

PRITHWI SHAW (scored a brilliant half-century and 64 runs in 43 balls)

Orange Cap: FAF DU PLESSIS (3 innings - 173 runs)

Purple Cap: KAGISO RABADA (2 innings - 5 wickets)
